Some gamers claim that Microsoft has redeemed itself and others think that the PS4 is the way to go, but what makes these gamers sway one way or the other?
A lot of the success for consoles is no longer based on a blind allegiance to Microsoft or Sony but now it really comes down to what games are offered on each console and what type of games are offered. The hardcore games for each console like Titanfall, Halo 5, and Forza Motorsport 5 for the Xbox One; and Infamous: Second Son, Knack, and Drive Club for PlayStation 4, are making a difference in who wants to buy which console. However, I think that the sales race is going to come down to the ever-growing population of casual gamers that are planning on buying a console.
Typically, it’s the hardcore gamers that spend the most money on games and “the GameStop president Tony Bartel says that the PowerUp Rewards Members are the heaviest spenders.”
From my experience, casual gamers like to access their games not just on their console but from anywhere that has internet. These next gen consoles are offering more options with downloading games online and offering libraries of these games which you can access anywhere, making casual gamers more willing to spend money on a console. I think it’s just a matter of who does it better and the proof will be in the sales.
Do you think the casual games offered will be the deciding factor in which console comes out on top? Let me know what you think!
